Today I'd like to talk about five perfumes from the line of Harajuku Lovers by Gwen Stefani cooperating with Cot. Harajuku Lovers collection includes fragrances , Lil' Angel, Love, Music, Baby and G, and each of them is devoted to one of her back vocals, Harajuku Girls, reflecting their fashion and life styles, while one represents her. First one that I've tried on is Lil' Angel. Lil Angel is a Citrus/ Gourmand fragrance for women composed of light, sweet notesof pineapple, candied violet, and a lollipop accord. The doll is cute that houses this fragrance but it looks as far from an angel as one can get. To me I think of an indian when I see the doll dressed with a bandana around her jet black hair. If I were to rate this perfume I would have to give it a 3 out of 5. Allthough the scent is fruity and pleasing it is sort of bland and boring for me. However it is a light scent, perfect for the beach this summer and I can picture a teenager wearing this, probably not an adult. The next perfume is Love. Love is my favorite bottle for she has a really hip hairstyle with hearts in her hair and an adorable blue striped dress. Love opens with notes of bergamot, pink pomelo, peach, and bamboo leaf. The heart reveals water peony, silky notes of rose, jasmine sambac, nectarine blossom, white narcissus, and Egyptian jasmine, while the base follows with ylang-ylang petals, creamy vanilla orchid, sensual musk and light woods accords. Love I have to say is more pleasing to my nose then Lil Angel. My only complaint is that the scent is not strong enough for me. It is not quite as ordinary as Lil Angel and the sweet notes tend to blend nicer for me. The peach notes give it a nice touch. I'd have to give this one a 3 out of 5as well. Next in the line is Harajuku Lovers Music. The top notes bring fresh aromas of peach and clementine, the heart blends floral notes of jasmine sambac, sweet pea and honeysuckle. The base introduces vanilla, musk, and woodsy accords. Music to me looks like a little nurse wearing pig tails or head phones, I haven't decided which one. She smells a lot like Love to me, another basic fruity scent. I would have to give this one a 3 again. Now we come to the perfume Baby. Baby is such a cute bottle with her big poofy hair and polka dotted dress. I heard a lot of reviews on Baby and a lot of people compare Baby to Loves Baby Soft perfume. I have to say though, allthough I do smell a baby powder type note in the top and base notes, a perfume that comes to mind when I wear this is the classic Lanvin Arpege. I would have to say Baby is Arpege's child because it has the hint of Arpege to my nose without the mature notes. I like Baby but I have to be in the mood for her. It brings a bouquet of freesia, roses, and sweetly fresh bergamot in the top. The heart is dominated by floral notes of orange blossom, Tiare flower, and jasmine petals, while the base caresses with white musk, soft wood, heliotrope, vanilla and violet. I would give Baby a four out of five.
My favorite in the line is the fragrance created after Gwen Stefani herself, the fragrance G. She is pretty with her blonde hair and black bow. This frag gets my five rating because by far it is the most pleasant of the five fragrances. I smell tropical coconut notes that transport me to summertime and the beach no matter what time of year it is. The scent is pure delicious in a bottle and I only regret I have the tiniest bottle they carry. If I had known how much I liked this one I would have bought the big doll to display on my dresser. G features mandarin, fresh coconut, and apple peel in the top, jasmine sambac, freesia and magnolia in the heart, and coconut cream, white sandalwood and cottonwoods.
As far as longevity and sillage goes with these little babies, I would have to compare all the scents to that of a body spray but again, Harajuku Lovers G lasts the longest and has the best sillage. Love has the worst sillage out of the five. Lil Angels is probably next in line where the strongest sillage goes. I really think that all of these scents are on the expensive side but the bottles are really adorable and if you have a little girl you will most likely find her playing with them alongside her Barbie dolls.
If you are looking for a nice beach scent I would recommend picking up a bottle of G for the summer because it was definetely my favorite of the line from Gwen Stefani. If you want to go out on a limb and try something different, I would try Baby because even though there are those that compare this scent to baby powder I have worn this on a sunday with a pretty sundress and it made me feel very fresh and clean all day. You'll probably find these fragrances at drugstores like CVS and Ulta but I've provided a link to Amazon if you want to give "G" a try.

Beyonce Heat and Heat Rush
Today I've decided to compare the two perfumes I own created by Beyonce. I love that song she made by the way, "If I were a Boy". It has to be one of my favorite songs by her. I remember when it first came out my co-worker and I used to blast her song in our office so many times one of our other co-workers started despising the song. Beyonce is such a great artist and when her perfumes started to emerge from the sea of fragrances I just had to try!
I bought Beyonce Heat first. Heat is full of sensual deep fragrance notes. Upon first whiff the scent is full and intoxicating, sweet but not overwhelmingly sweet... it is sexy which is the best way to describe this fragrance. I think that all though you can wear this fume during the day, it would work best as a night time scent. This eau deparfum contains notes of red vanilla orchid, magnolia, neroli and blush peach; a heart of honeysuckle nectar, almond macaroon and crème de musk, and a drydown of giant sequoia milkwood, tonka bean and amber.
Now Beyonce Heat Rush I just recently bought at Ulta. Unlike the original dark purple reddish color of the juice Heat Rush is an orange color. It makes you think immediately of the summer and it is gearing you up to think this would be a perfect perfume for the day. Do you own Nina Ricci Love? It is a very difficult to find fume that was a limited edition. It came in a little clear bottle shaped like an apple. This perfume smells like Nina Ricci Love. It is super delicious. I smell fruit and the scents emerging are sweeter then that of Beyonce Heat. I would say it is a tad lighter then Heat but the scent holds just as well. Infact both frags last all day on me with little to no reapplying on my part. Opening notes of Heat Rush start the composition with passion fruit sorbet, blood orange and Brazilian cherry. Its heart blooms with yellow tiger orchid, mango blossom and orange hibiscus, while a warm base closes with teak wood, honey amber and Rio sunset musk.
So which one would I recommend buying out of the two? I can't say. I wouldn't want to just pick one. Since the prices are so reasonable you could almost purchase both if you were in the market to buy some new fragrances for your collection. However if I was forced to choose I would have to say Beyonce Heat the original. I think the original is a little bit more sexy and I believe it is more popular. I also think that Heat Rush is a bit more common of a scent since I was able to find another perfume in my collection that smelled almost identicle. So if you haven't tried the original Rush by Beyonce yet, what are you waiting for? It is delicious and definetely worth the money for it. Give it a whirl ladies! :)

Never Grow Up

Recently I purchased this CD Speak Now by Taylor Swift and there was one song in particular that made me cry. "Never Grow Up" is the title of the song. It's about a woman telling a little girl to never grow up because life is so simple and easy when you are so young. I am always fascinated by children and I have the opportunity to watch my nephew Preston growing up right before me. He is five years old now but I've gotten such a kick out of seeing him go from a baby learning how to talk and to walk to becoming a little boy who just learned how to ride his bicycle. I am so proud of him to see him grow and learn how to stretch his wings and test his limits. It is wonderful to see a child's excitement over the little things in life Every time he draws a picture or builds a house with lincoln logs he is so happy and proud of himself and it blesses my heart. I remember being so little and the world was so full of opportunities and goals to accomplish. I also remember being little like Preston and not getting my way would make me run to my room and cry. I remember one particular time I got so mad at my mom for something silly and I found my toy Doctor set. I dumped the fake thermometer and stethoscope out of the mini suitcase and packed a few of my tshirts into the plastic box. I was going to run away. Thankfully I only got as far as my front door. When I think now what used to make me all upset as a child and how inconsequential those matters were, I laugh. The song explains very well how a teenager can be embarressed of their parent dropping them off at the movies but someday they are going to wish their parent was still around. Every single day I am grateful for the friends and my family I have in my life because nothing is guaranteed. I want to make sure every day that I tell the people that mean the most to me that I love them because I don't ever want to have any regrets when they are gone. I think every teenager should listen to this song and take to heart what the words are saying. They make a lot of sense when you are all grown up and you realize what is important in life. It is not the job you have or the house you live in and it isn't the possessions you have attained, it's the people you love that matter most. Will you look back and have regrets when it's too late to change that thing you said hastily in anger? I know there are things I have said to people I wish I can take back now. Lessons are learned however and you find yourself being more sensitive to peoples feelings and realizing life is not all about you. When I find that a friend has crossed me or my parents might say something that hurts my feelings, maybe I'm the one who is being too sensitive or maybe they just had a terrible day and I need to have some patience with them as I would hope someone would have for me if the tables were turned. "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you" the Bible states in Matthew 7:12. That is the scripture I want to end my blog with today and remember today to tell someone close to you that you love them.

My Dad
So today is Father's Day and I send out my good wishes to all the fathers out there today because today is their day. They should be spoiled rotten today and feel fully appreciated. I feel so blessed to have a father like I do. Since I have been a little girl all my memories of my daddy have been the fondest of memories. I can recall though when I was about five years old, my dad used to go on some business trips for the company he was working for at the time. He would be gone for a week at a time and I really missed him when he went away. I was such a strange child though because I remember to this day hiding under the kitchen table when I knew my dad was coming home any minute. I was so overwhelmed with joy that he was coming home that all I knew to do was hide under the table to contain my excitement. I think I do that in my life as an adult, and I don't mean literally hiding under the table. There are times I'm so overwhelmed with an emotion that it is easier to hide from them then it is to deal with them head on. And yet my wonderful dad would come home and I would run out to give him a big kiss hello, and he'd always have some cute little five dollar stuffed animal for me. To me, that stuffed animal was worth a million dollars. One time I remember him giving me my first teddy bear, and his name was Peepers. He had gigantic eyes. He was maybe as big as my hand now, but boy did I love Peepers. Another trip he brought me back a stuffed animal dog with furry ears. Her name was Daphne as it said on her little nameplate. I loved her too. Anything my dad would give me I loved. I loved and still love my dad so much because of the way he will just sit and talk to me about pretty much anything. He's held my hand when I've had a broken heart, and I've had a broken heart twice, pretty bad. It was my dad who would tell me that everything will be ok. He gave me that peace and love when I really needed it. I've never doubted love was real because my dad taught me what love was first. My dad is so silly sometimes and he makes up silly stories to make people laugh. He used to tell me stories as a child about a man named Loot and he'd have me laughing at his crazy antics. He also loved to sing and call me Lilly, even though Lilly isn't my name. My best memories of my dad has to be all the bike rides we would do together because in the middle of every bike ride, down in the Patchogue area by the water, we would take a break and sit and talk by the pier. My dad taught me a lot about Jesus and everything that he has taught me I have taken to heart. I know God exists because of my Dad, and I know God is good, because of my Dad. I am forever grateful to my dad for being who he was and who he is today in my life. I know God blessed me when he gave me a dad like my dad. When I die some day I know that my life was a good one just for having been blessed with such wonderful parents. Thank you Jesus for my dad. He truly is the epitome to me what I think a good dad is and I am forever grateful for him. I wouldn't change him for anything in the world. Love you Dad!

Johnny Rockets
So tonight I am going to be going to Johnny Rockets for dinner. Johnny Rockets has to be one of my favorite joints because they have the best hamburgers and milk shakes I have ever tasted. I always have to get some sort of chocolate milkshake, but not just a plain chocolate milkshake, it has to be one with some sort of candy bar concoction going on. Then there are the fries that the little girl in the cute little poodle skirt comes over and creates a smiley face of ketchup on the plate for you. Lastly, if it couldn't get any better, the wait staff dances for you! And it is almost always to YMCA. I love that part, because I always try to find the one person who is singing their heart out and they just don't care who's watching. I'm a shy girl so I always have such admiration for anyone who can belt out a song in public in front of a bunch of crazy strangers eating their burgers and fries, just gawking at you! I'm also probably the world's worst dancer, so to top it all off, if you can dance how I envy you!
So this got me thinking about the 50's and perfumes that are classics. So today I want to write about a classic that I have recently sampled that is actually one of the very first perfumes from the Perfume House Guerlain. How I love Guerlain perfumes. Insolence and and My Insolence are very modern and tantalizing. So recently I did some research on Guerlain and located a perfume called Jicky. I ordered a sample from Perfumed Court because Jicky is not cheap and I was on a mission to try this one. I read up on a lot of reviews and I hoped with baited breath that Jicky would live up to my expectations. First let me explain that not only was this one of the first Guerlain perfumes, it is also a unisex fragrance. Jicky was created in 1889. It is a classical fragrance and despite the age, it is timeless and still very modern. According to the legend, the perfume was named after a girl Aime Guerlain was in love with when he was a student in England. It is more likely, though, that this perfume is named after his uncle Jacques Guerlain’s nick – Jicky. This was one of the first perfumes created with addition of synthetic materials (the first was Fougere Royale Houbigant, 1882). The top notes contain lavender and citrus (bergamot, lemon and mandarin), which perfectly match the cold, metallic orris and rose shaded by vetiver. The cold top and middle notes are an elegant counterbalance to the warm base created of patchouli, vanilla, amber and musk.
So Jicky to me did smell sort of like a cinnamon pastry upon applying with some lemon drop note peaking its pretty head. It was a very comforting scent that indeed could be worn by either a gentleman or a lady, however, there was absolutely a masculine note that was apparent. For my tastes, I like my perfumes to be straight feminine. If there is a masculine note I am usually turned off by the smell. In Jicky's case, not so much, but all I could keep thinking about was attempting to get my fiance to give this a whirl. I am fascinated by any scent that can stand the test of time. Considering Jicky has been around since the 1800's, that is pretty impressive. I'm always sad when I love a perfume and I see it go off the market. Thankfully there is always Amazon.com and Ebay. I hope that Jicky stays around for another 100 years as I do hope the same for Johnny Rockets. :) I love to go there and feel like I'm living in a time when my parents were going out on a date, my mother wearing her poodle skirts, or whatever they wore in the fifties. :) I wonder if she ever wore Jicky for my Dad? ;o) If you are interested in this perfume and don't want to break the piggy bank, I really recommend The Perfume Court because you can get a sample of a lot of different perfumes for very cheap. Christian Dior Poisons
Today I want to talk about the three types of Poison's by Christian Dior. Christian Dior the original Poison was my very first perfume. I still keep this fragrance in my collection even though I've owned it now for twenty years. Surprisingly the scent is still pleasant. My oldest perfumes upon first blast I might smell a greater content of alchohol but as it settles on my skin the fragrance notes still emerge. I've only had to throw out one perfume recently and thankfully I was able to keep my Poison if nothing more then scentimental reasons. My brother gave this one to me for my birthday and introduced me to the world of perfume which has become my passion.
I own Poison, Hypnotic Poison and Midnight Poison. If I had to describe each one personally I would have to say that the original Poison always reminds me of grapes. I don't know if its because of the purple bottle that houses the fragrance and it tricks my senses because there are no grape notes in this perfume at all. Recently I picked up a bottle of Thierry Mugler Angel and I was amazed how closely the two perfumes resembled eachother. Infact my mom does not like the smell of Poison. One day I was wearing Alien and she commented, " you are wearing that perfume I don't like again, what is that one called.... Poison? " Poison is a classic and I don't think it's going away any time soon. There is no denying it has its qualities and if worn properly and not over applied it can avoid becoming a headache inducer. Created in 1985 and won a FiFi award in 1987, top notes include coriander, wildberries, orange honey, tuberose are at perfume’s heart, while base note features opopanar. Hypnotic Poison on the other hand makes me think of almonds. Hypnotic Poison has a lot of fans. When I review this one it seems like most of the public prefers this perfume over any of the three. I think Hypnotic is delicious on dry down. At first blast it is a bit strong for me and almost smells like paste at first but within just 5 to 10 minutes the scent that emerges is intoxicating. Hypnotic Poison by Dior is an Oriental Vanilla fragrance for women launched in 1998. The nose behind this fragrance is Annick Menardo. Top notes are allspice, apricot, plum and coconut; middle notes are tuberose, jasmine, lily-of-the-valley, rose and brazilian rosewood; base notes are sandalwood, almond and vanilla. I find this fragrance perfect for winter. I believe that in the summer the scent could become rather cloying. Lastly Midnight Poison is my personal favorite. Whenever I wear Midnight Poison I always get compliments. There is something exotic about this scent, perfect for a night out on the town. It's romantic and tantilizing and I highly recommend this one. It is the newest addition to Dior's poison family and it opens with citrus notes of mandarin and bergamot to the rose heart, and patchouli, amber and French vanilla in the base.
All three Poisons are beautiful in their own way. I personally like the Midnight Poison the most but Hypnotic Poison is a very close second choice for me. I wouldn't want to be without either in my collection. Then there is the original Poison that I will keep in my collection forever just because it brings back memories for me of being a teenager and feeling so grown up when I would spray the perfume on my wrists. I'm happy I was introduced to this line first and foremost because to date I have 7 Dior perfumes, Miss Diore Cherie being my favorite perfume in my collection. Top notes are allspice, apricot, plum and coconut; middle notes are tuberose, jasmine, lily-of-the-valley, rose and brazilian rosewood; base notes are sandalwood, almond and vanilla. I find this fragrance perfect for winter. I believe that in the summer the scent could become rather cloying. Lastly Midnight Poison is my personal favorite. Whenever I wear Midnight Poison I always get compliments. There is something exotic about this scent, perfect for a night out on the town. It's romantic and tantilizing and I highly recommend this one. It is the newest addition to Dior's poison family and it opens with citrus notes of mandarin and bergamot to the rose heart, and patchouli, amber and French vanilla in the base.
All three Poisons are beautiful in their own way. I personally like the Midnight Poison the most but Hypnotic Poison is a very close second choice for me. I wouldn't want to be without either in my collection. Then there is the original Poison that I will keep in my collection forever just because it brings back memories for me of being a teenager and feeling so grown up when I would spray the perfume on my wrists. I'm happy I was introduced to this line first and foremost because to date I have 7 Dior perfumes, Miss Diore Cherie being my favorite perfume in my collection. Frozen Hot Chocolate - Dunkin Donuts
Ok so I had to be one of the first people to try Frozen Hot Chocolate at Dunkin Donuts. I am a chocoholic to the extreme. Not only do I enjoy anything flavored chocolate, I also like to wear Chocolate scented perfumes and lotions. If I had had the chance to visit Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory I would have been the little boy who fell in the chocolate river and got sucked in the tube. So what do I think about Dunkin Donut's new Frozen Hot Chocolate? It's delicious BUT don't drink the hot chocolate and eat a chocolate donut at the same time. YES, I made that mistake. I was on chocolate overload for about 3 hours. I think next time I try that drink maybe I'll skip the donut? :)
Because of my chocolate obsession I have several perfumes in my collection that smell of chocolate, and when I say several I mean several. I don't want to write about every perfume in one blog that I have with this fragrance note so as I have been doing in my blogs lately, I will discuss three.
The first one I want to talk about is new on the market and it is also done by Tokyo Milk. It is called Bittersweet and it is part of their new Dark Collection. Bittersweet is probably the perfume I own that smells most of chocolate on the top notes, but as with all perfumes the top notes settle and you can experience all the other fragrance notes in the dry down. Here are the notes in Bittersweet: Cake Flour, Dark Cacao Bean, Osmanthus, Bronzed Musk. I was also attracted to the Cake Flour note when I read up on Bittersweet. Bittersweet was a blind buy for me. I had no idea what I was getting into when I ordered this one but I will tell you I was not disappointed. I got my chocolate fix when I sprayed it on, and since I am a little ocd, yup, I had to keep spraying it on all day to get that chocolate fix again.
My next favorite is Comptoir Sud Pacifique Amour De Cacao. After spraying this little number on my arm I want to chew on it. It is such a delicious perfume and also very reasonably priced. I bought mine off of Ebay but Amazon has terrific prices for this one. Amour De Cacao by Comptoir Sud Pacifique is a Oriental Vanilla fragrance for women. Amour De Cacao was launched in 1993. The fragrance features vanilla, cacao, carambola (star fruit) and orange.
Last but not least because I assume in another blog in the future I will have to talk about more chocolate perfumes in my collection, there is Aquolina, Chocolovers. Now let me explain, everyone knows about Aquolina Pink Sugar. Every teen and tween and even women my age are obsessed with Pink Sugar, but so much so everyone has it. Ofcourse, I have it too... but Chocolovers is probably even better and I am so glad that I discovered it with my googling. I found Aquolina Pink Sugar so delicious I had to find out what other perfumes were in that line. Chocolovers by Aquolina is an Oriental Vanilla fragrance for women and men. Chocolovers was launched in 2006. The fragrance features orange, hazelnut, coriander, musk, vanilla, lily-of-the-valley, bergamot and lemon. Let me tell you this is one of the perfumes that I put on that every time I spray it I think that this is my favorite perfume that I own, but then I try all my others and constantly forget about this one. It is very addicting and worth the purchase especially if you love Pink Sugar, and have an obsession for chocolate like I do.
So here are my recommendations for today. I always include a Buy it Now option from Amazon in my links for at least one of the perfumes. Since Bittersweet is so reasonably priced and new on the market I suggest trying that one if you want to try something different. Until next time, go try one of Dunkin Donut's Frozen hot Chocolates. I promise you it will bring you a little burst of happiness for the day. :)
